All that is left now is the elevator shaft, which, if left standing, would make for a pretty incredible sculpture.
The original plan was to blow the whole thing up, but the radio station next door (Deutschlandfunk, DLF) had issues with this, so it was dismantled piece by piece, and lowered to the ground, explaining the two enormous cranes on site.

*not* being torn down.
One can see the wall of shipping containers which have been stacked to help keep (I am assuming) dust and debris from the demolition away from the DLF grounds.
Originally, the towers were to be taken down via detonation, but it has since been denied, due to expected resulting transmission problems from DLF.

The old Deutsche Welle office tower is in the process of being demolished as its colleague the Deutschlandfunk Tower on the left looks on.
The Deutsche Welle has long since taken up residence in Bonn in a very nice building by Joachim Schürmann, which was originally being built for the the parliament members when Bonn was still the capitol. It's unwelcome claim to fame was when, during construction, the Rhein flooded and the base of the building bobbed-up on the groundwater, as the systems to create an equilibrium with the ground- and floodwater were not implemented in time.
Anyway, sorry to see this landmark come down. It was a nice ensemble.
