Just 43 years between them.

aaaaand, going back down.

One can say what one likes about the non-contemporary character of this building, but it does have some very nice spaces (and at that top of these stairs, I recall there being a veritable forest of columns which made for some very nice layering).

I am always surprised when I see when a lot of buildings like this were actually built. One always assumes that, because of the style (so-called 'collegiate gothic') and the mental-images that accompany them (century-old collection of wisdom and knowledge because it looks exactly like the references in Europe) that these are very old structures, which simply isn't the case.

Below all of that stonework there is a modern steel frame.

For reference, Frank Lloyd Wright had built the Robie House in Chicago 22 years earlier.
