While WSDOT is repaving SR 522/Lake City Way between I-5 and SR 523/North 145th Street in Seattle, crews also will make improvements at four intersections: NE 137th Street, NE 135th Street, NE 95th Street and NE 82nd Street. These will make it easier for people of all abilities to cross Lake City Way. In addition to this section of SR 522, crews are also repaving the highway between 58th and 61st avenues Northeast in Kenmore.

SR 522 was last paved in 2002; now the pavement is wearing out. Potholes like this are appearing in more places. Rather than repairing each little section, in summer 2021 WSDOT is repaving about 4 miles of the highway between I-5 and SR 523/North 145th Street in Seattle and about a quarter-mile between 58th and 61st avenues Northeast in Kenmore. The new pavement will help preserve the highway, in addition to providing a smoother driving surface.

SR 522/Lake City Way in Seattle has developed many cracks, ruts and potholes since it was last paved in 2002. In spring and summer 2021 WSDOT contractor crews will grind and repave about 4 miles of the highway between I-5 and SR 523/North 145th Street. Crews will close Northeast 95th Street in Seattle between SR 522 and Ravenna Avenue Northeast from April 26 to May 14 for concrete replacement and curb ramp installation.

It's been 18 years since WSDOT repaved most of SR 522 between I-5 and SR 523/North 145th Street in Seattle, and the roadway is showing it. In spring and summer 2021 WSDOT will repave this segment, along with a quarter-mile section in Kenmore, to preserve the roadway and provide a smoother surface for drivers.
