Awaiting its end in the yard at Derby Works when Neil visited with an RCTS group was this old-timer. Dübs & Co built condensing Johnson 2F 0-6-0 53138 in 1875 for the Midland Railway. 53138 was a long-time resident of Bournville shed in the 1950s and had still been in service at Coalville shed until December 1962.

Fowler 2-6-4T 42392 had been withdrawn from Stoke a month earlier.

SNCB 205010 makes a connection in August 1964. This locomotive carries it's pre-1971 number, but what did it become (I assume that it is a class 62)?.

Scanned from a 6x9cm sixe negative taken by the late Harry Townley, the copyright of the Industrial Railway Society (HT-4907)

45263 has just passed through Church Road tunnel on what is now the Birmingham's cross-city line, this short tunnel is near the summit of a climb from New Street station for southbound trains, the tunnel mouth can be seen through the gap in the fence, far right. The train is the 17.25 Birmingham to Gloucester service on 24th April 1964.
45263 was a Stanier Black Five, she was built at Armstrong Whitworth in October 1936 for the LMS (5236) The loco was withdrawn in October 1967 and scrapped at Cashmore's Newport. she is pictured with a 2B Oxley shedplate although it is listed as not being transfered there until 03/04/1965.
