As part of the plan to re-introduce a stopping train service on the Camp Hill line in Birmingham the plan is to open new stations at Hazelwell, Kings Heath and Moseley. Of course these are not really new stations, they were stations which closed as a 'temporary wartime measure' on 27th January 1941.
This is the new Kings Heath station, the emankment area has been cleared and much site work has been done, mature trees have been removed to open up views of and from Alcester Road bridge.
The station building will be on the left and accessible from the road, the old station was on the right (from where this picture was taken), it is now a retail park. The old platform on the left is marked out by the dark green ivy clinging to the retaining wall.
There was a thriving goods yard at Kings Heath, a base for local house coal merchants and timber suppliers, the goods yard remained open for traffic until 02/05/1966. Another forgotten activity near here was ballast pit sidings they were situated just the other side of Alcester Road Bridge.
A class 220 is working 1V55 the 13.42 Birmingham New street to Bristol Temple Meads.

The footbridge at Lapworth station is also part of the local footpath network, it span not only the running lines seen here but also the long lifted relief lines which were behind the waiting shelter on the right. The bridge connects the station with field paths to the canal network at Kingswood junction where the Stratford-upon Avon canal and the Grand Union canal are linked. it was a popular route for anglers back when Lapworth had a decent train service, it was also a terminus for some of the local trains from Birmingham Moor Street, the goods yard closed 11/11/1963.
66152 is at the head of 4M71 the 09.51 Southampton Western Docks to Birch Coppice Exchange sidings.

The low sun creates light and shade in the dense cloud of exhaust as the driver gives 70808 the gun. The train had been held at Hatton Station and having got the green light proceeded gently round the curve to Hatton North Junction, this was the point when the driver was facing the bank and was free to open out his locomotive.
The train was 6X50, the 08.01 Westbury Down T.C. to Bescot up Engineers Sidings. According to my much more knowledgeable companion this heavy train was booked to run via Coventry therefore we were lucky it was diverted to the Solihull line at Leamington Spa, it was the point where the train ceased to figure on RTT.
